Hey there you football layabouts,

Damo's boss here - just popped over to Polly's place because our computers have all frozen at the workshop.

Listen, Damo is supposed to be welding some extra struts on Colin's walkbridge but he's been yakking to you fools everyday. When he isn't yahoo'ng down at some oval near Cockburn he's tapping out some crap on his keyboard. I'd love to sack the slacker but he's the only bloke that can lay a steady bead on this cheap steel they left us with.

Sure, egg the kid on all you like but don't start whinging to me when this stupid footbridge starts to rust out back in the yard during winter instead of stretching across your river. Take the 653 with Zorro and his mob - whadda I care.

BOB.

Our side as a whole has got a lot younger again this year.. 10 kids taken in the draft, the most in the AFL.. Just going on that you would think we would get worse, not better.. I see maybe 2019 the year that we start to fire a bit and make finals.. I can't see us making the finals in 2018 but I only have to see promising signs to be excited.. Thanks for that form guide DD, you need your own column.

Thx DD for your training reports. Excellent coverage.
As for your best 22, pretty much exactly as I’d have em with the possible exception of Brady Grey who I’m still a bit iffy on.
Spot on with your Tabs comment as well. I’ve personally never been a fan until the last few games of last season when he really started to show something IMO. I’ve also noticed there are a few people not sold on Logue as yet. I was the same at first but I reckon he improved in every game he played.
The other guys I have a real interest in are Nyhuis and Duman. Nyhuis has been very solid in defence from all I’ve seen in the WAFL whilst Taylin shows some real class occasionally. Hugh Dixon will also be on my watch list this year. There’s something about his highlights that really floats my boat. (Maybe it’s just his name, who knows)

Don't be fooled CA, Jezz wouldn't be the first footy follower to argue with himself.

BOB didn't you know Stage III will wrap the whole shebang in a massive methyl methacrylate all weather dehumidified contraption that will ensure it is rust free for a century. I guess you missed out on that contract – perhaps Damo got confused and hit the delete button while mucking about with his dockerland posts.

I’m with Jezza, glass half full view, we’ve got a lot of quality players and barring fitness issues, significant injuries, nightclub and kebab distractions we could be in top 5-8 contention.

Jezza cant see that the glass is the wrong size, it's not half full.

The Tigers won the GF last year ??!! If you get everyone fit and committed rowing the boat, strange things can happen.

Let me just say that when you get to my age, you’ve heard of all the negativity there is and nothing irks me more when I’m in a room filled with naysayers. Freo are stacked with talent, coach by one of the best and have training resources that are world class. It’s about Win/Loss. I’m not fussed if they can’t kick 15+ goals. I’ll be happy if they kick 60 pts, and the oppo kicks 59. So far preseason has gone smoothly and from DD’s reports, excelling in many areas. We’re locked and loaded.

It’s all good to be optimistic. The problem with putting your head in the sand and criticising the naysayers , is you get what we got. No premierships and a style of footy going nowhere. I have also been around a long time.

I'm not as young as I used to be either. But I don't get excited for the sake of it just because another season rolls around with some new blokes. A healthy dose of cynicism, based on experience and observation isn't negativity either.

It's keeping it real.

You're getting a bit caught up in magicalness of your own thinking if you believe that supporters optimistic views of things has had any negative impact on on-field performance. The only thing your optimism/pessimism or whatever in between you have affects is your own (and/or those around you) outlook and health.
