I was given a Google Home thingy for Christmas and, during a flat spot in the cricket, I thought set it up so I could say "Ok Google, shut Ian up" and it would mute the tv for a couple of minutes while I recomposed myself. It was intended for Ian Healy but it works equally well on Ian Chappell.
While shutting up Ians is good value, the football season isn't too far off and I'm pretty sure Basil will need to be shut up as well.
So, for anyone who wants to spend a lot of time making something that can easily be done by pressing a button on your tv remote, here's instructions on how you do it (you can use the same technique to run anything else that operates by a remote)
You need a Google Assistant - a box or an Android Phone with it on
You need one of these remote control doodaas from China (which I already had)

You need some sort of Android box or an old Android phone that you can leave plugged in somewhere to run the server on
.
Then you follow these instructions to hook it all up.

If you're struggling with those instructions, maybe read these ones to get started, then come back for the Stringify bit

To make Basil shut up -
You'll record the mute button and make your stringify string
IFTTT ("Shut Basil up") > Connect Maker [Mute Button] > 2 minute timer > Connect Maker [Mute button].
