I think we gave Logue an extension before he played a game.
I reckon it's pretty sensible. The AFL can't mandate longer contract terms for draftees because the system it's landed on means young kids are being flung to all parts of the country often against their (or their parents) wishes; but where a player and club reckon they are a good match, then the extra years puts less pressure on the player in the first year or two to perform, gives the media less ammunition for mischief, and provides Freo much better leverage if a trade in on the table in a couple of years.
Normally I'd say this sort of deal with a pick #2 favours a club over the player, but although some draft picks jump off the field / screen in their first year or two, some are slow-burners. I'll defer to the judgement of others, but from what I've read Brayshaw strikes me as someone who will have a slower and steadier rate of improvement.
