It all depends on pre season form with everyone we don't have a clear cut best 22 yet

I think most of our new recruits will be playing in the preseason Regional matches. Their form in those matches could determine whether they're ready for round 1.
My guess is that RL will play his best senior team for round one and maybe unearth one or two new boys in Round 2 against essendon at the new home of football.

You'd debut them all against the Gold Coast. To sell some tickets.

Roly's never been one for playing any recruits early on. Always likes to see them have a few games at Peel to see how they go first.

Pre season will be interesting....i cant remember how many games Lachie Neale played for Peel until Roly saw the light so Im worried for Cherry and Brayshaw who really should start in game one seeing as we are in a rebuild year. It was interesting to hear Roly wax lyrical about Brayshaw so maybe he has been taking some " get to like me " pills in the off season.....here's hoping!
All of them should feature in preseason with Dixon a good chance if he produces the goods ......i see a number 29 potential.

Too many people get carried through form slumps in my opinion, fine if they’re a top player and just having an off game but I would prefer form players to be put in. I’m hoping with all the new players we’re in for a recallibration and all spots are up for grabs.
Sandi, Johnson, Pearce, Spurr, Mundy, and Ballantyne could all be in their last year. If they’re not in form ready for round 1 they shouldn’t play, play the kids who are.

Neale made his debut in round 4 of his first season (2012). Apparently he would've likely made his debut in round 1, but hurt his ankle. Ended up playing two WAFL games for the Black Ducks before running out for Freo. Sheridan, final round, Crozier round 10 and Sutcliffe round 15, also made their debuts first year up in 2012.

In 2013 Tanner Smith made his debut in his first year in round 4

In 2014 Apeness was a first year debutante in round 16, not bad for a big man.

Lachie Weller was a first year debutante in round 18, 2015.

Darcy Tucker got a round 4 debut in 2016, his first year. Sam Collins round 10 and Shane Yarran round 18 also debuted year one.

2017, with Logue (round 4), Darcy (round 14), Cox (round 12) and Ryan (round 11) saw all main draftees debut.

I remember watching Lachie play in the pre season three header games v wee gurls and Hawks. We struggled to clear the ball of of defence and were pretty awful but lachie snapped a great goal and you could see the footy smarts right there. We were then sent to play port on a cow paddock at victor harbour and lachie stuffed his ankle and was out for quite a time. I feel so nostalgic, those glory days were a coming and now they seem to be in the far distant past. Would be great to have those times again.

I'm into precedents.

Paul Haselby was taken No. 2 in the AFL Draft of 1999. He made his debut in Round 1, 2000. He received the Rising Star nomination for Round 1. He was the 2000 Norwich Union AFL Rising Star.
In his career from 2000 to 2010, he played 208 games and kicked 131 goals.

Andrew Bradshaw should play in Round 1, and steal a march on the other nominees.

I've only seen pix/videos of our top two draftees and I wouldn't play either in Rnd 1 - nor would i serve either a beer. They look like babies and would probably play like babies.

I agree that Hase was one of our best playng first round, but Stephen Hill was a pretty good show too.
