Based on the highlight packages neither of these guys seem to have the X factor that Rayner, LDU or Fogarty all have. So it's hard to get excited. But every chance one or both will turn into A-grade midfielders, time will tell.

Why the disappointment? Because we thought we could get better. 12 months ago, Logue, Darcy, Ryan and Cox surprised us all. They've all exceeded our expectations. This new crop excites me. Brayshaw and Cerra, whom I thought our recruiters would picked, are future superstars. I'm plonking my hard earned cash on Brayshaw to win the RS in 2018. Clearly I got my selections wrong but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

I take your point Jezza but those guys were low picks and exceeded expectations because they were set accordingly. Cox and co will be serviceable but picks 2 and 5 should be top shelf A graders. Time will tell but they don't scream out as players that will shape our future. That said, we seem to have outperformed with Dixon and Meek who look like very good pick ups late in the draft.

Im disappointed that some Dockerlanders are disappointed with our draft selections.

How many of you have seen our selections play live? Or come to that any of the top 10?. I would hazard a guess the majority of nay sayers have only seen them in a short package of highlights. How about we give them a chance to show their skills for a number of games in purple before passing judgement.

A couple of months ago most of us hadn't heard of any of these blokes. Based on a few articles by journos who we despise for most of the year, some highlights videos which attempt to cram a whole season into two and a half minutes and the collective "wisdom" of the interwebs, we form opinions, defend them to the death and then throw our hands up in despair when we turn out to be wrong. I find the various fist pumps and meltdowns very amusing.

Anyway, that's enough from me; I've got some shoes I need to fix. Anyone know a good cobbler?

Brayshaw and LDU played for the same high school. It's likely our scouts saw them both playing in the same games a fair bit. If they think Brayshaw is a better pick, I can get behind that. My preference for LDU was based on what I'd read by people who are paid to write about what people paid to select players might do.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall. Did we look at raising the skill level of our midfield (which is a bit lacking), was it a case of picking blokes who wanted to be here? Do we plan on trading Bradshaw to play with his brother in a swap for Hogan next offseason? Who knows?

Either way, welcome aboard rookies.
