Some of you may have heard about this documentary series that has been in production (with Beyond West) over the past year or so - others may be just pleasantly surprised to hear of it. Kevin Sheedy mentioned it in his recent conversation with Richard Fidler (ABC). Produced by Shakara Walley (with Harry Bardwell as the Ex. Prod.) with direction by Kelli Cross and Karla Hart, Nyoongar Footy Magic - Team of Champions is a multipart documentary series that profiles 24 Nyoongar football greats, from Polly Farmer and Barry Cable through to Buddy and Stephen/Bradley Hill. Screenwest provided some funding (read about it in their newsletter here).

There's an open sneak preview session planned for Subiaco Oval on Sunday December 10 from 4-7pm (hosted by Beyond West and the WAFC). The Gøörméistarønî posted up a poster for the event this morning:

Most of the players featured in the series will be there, others as well. This would be way better than any 8am tour of the Craypot in February - you can even have a kick-to-kick out on the oval! Mark it into your calendar (and I'll see y'all on the day).

Paul Roberts moving 1988 film Black Magic is definitely worth seeing if you can get your hands on it somewhere.

I agree, Black Magic is a great doco. Check out your local library, they may be able to get a copy for you. Also Curtin University and ECU library have it listed in their catalogues

I didn't want to pay $6 for the Paul Roberts film so I watched Black Magic with Orson Welles instead. Not his best work but the man could rock a pair of tights in his day.

You should've got out of your pool today. I tell you what, I've been to Buckingham Palace, I've been through Versailles, I've even been told to 'move along you idiot' by a G-Man on Pennsylvania Avenue outside the White House - but I've never seen so much history and royalty in one place at any one time as this afternoon at Subi:

Hills, Kicketts, Picketts, Jimmy Kraks, Chance Bateman, Leon Davis (on and on the list goes) - even Sheedy was there sweating in a suit. They presented the medals/jumpers then played a couple of episodes up on the big screen. Impressive - especially the Krakouer brother episode (don't miss it next year on NITV). What a bunch of champs, legends.

And another thing - all this preciousness about the 'hallowed turf' at Subi is baloney. Talk about going from wreck to ruin, they even cut a ute track across the ground to save some lard-arse from having to walk it:

They may as well allow all those Ebay entrepreneurs to get in there with their shovels and hoes.
