Surely this heart condition has been checked by doctors?

Draft picks: 2, 5, 42, 60, 66, 70, 77, 80, 90 (likely to use eight selections)

Fremantle has the biggest investment in this year's draft, with the club to use eight selections on Friday night. They can't really go wrong with their two top-five picks, but after that the rest of their selections will be later on. Inside midfielder Tom North could get a look, hard-runner Angus Styles has some very good traits and is a chance to land a spot, while they have also put some time into Tasmanian key forward Hugh Dixon. Dixon is mobile and works hard, and at 195cm is a reliable target in attack. He claimed Tasmania's MVP in the under-18 academy series.

Am I wrong in assuming we can elevate rookies - Taylin Dumin(?) and Luke Strnadica - with our later picks? Dumin traveled as an emergency at least once I seem to recall. Strnadica hasn't looked out of place in his WAFL elevation games. They could do worse. So, if that is the case then we only have six spots to fill, four later on with the rookie draft. But I could be wrong.

My good Morgan, my point was once we are done with picks 2 and 5, our focus will be on our next pick. This unfortunately won't come until pick 42.
Having said that I reckon Richmond would be pretty happy with Bachar Houli - a 'now' 170 game Premiership player, originally picked up by Essendon in the 2006 National Draft with pick #42.
Of course there is always the other side of the coin where you can end up with a complete dud - or even worse! The scaly mob up the road went for 'worse' - forfeiting pick #42 in the 1998 National Draft for a breach of the salary cap rules.

Surely in the 80's & 90's you'd try for a good WAFL player who has been passed over?

Cal Twomey suggested that Freo have shown interest in Hugh Dixon
Looks like he could be worth a shot at 42 or maybe 66
195cm, moves well, good left foot kick and footy smarts

Thoughts?

Thoughts ? I’m wondering why did they delist Collins and Deluca (not to mention Barlow, De Boer, Mzungu) to replace them with picks in the 60s to 90s ?

Walba I think all of those players were very low picks or rookie selections, and in some cases too close to 30. If we were to replicate the same success with this batch of low picks we would be going ok. We may also look for different characteristics in the new selections.

DBS were you thinking of something like resilience? We get a couple of low picks and put them on the park for Hodor to practise tackling on?

Gee Wheezey, I like the look of this Dixon kid. He seems to be the full package as a tallish forward, good mark and kick, good recovery when the ball hits the ground and he chases and tackles. If he is available at 42 or 66 he would be a great pick up. I also like Jake Patmore as a late pick.

We need a ruckman. That's what pick 42 is for.
