As far as propaganda films go it’s actually pretty well put together. Almost everything said is a fact or unverifiable motivational-speak garbage. But it is guilty of several critical omissions. Fortunately I had a few minutes to correct the record:
Claim: We needed millions just to join the league….
Omission: …So we sold our licence to a Victorian company and drained the remaining millions from WA football.
Claim: We were restricted to 17 fewer players than our rivals…
Omission: …Because we were the only team not to field a reserves side.
Claim: It was a fight just to exist….
Omission: …with only a defacto State of Origin side and a guarantee put up by the WAFC to the Victorian shareholders.
Claim. From adversity comes strength:
Omission…but at least some of that strength came from priority picks landing us the greatest CHB in the modern era and an All-Australian forward that we got for no reason other than the AFL worried we couldn’t survive on only the existing SOO team.
Claim: Sometimes we had to learn the hard way…
Omission: But sometimes that took literally waiting until a club legend died and another broke his brain before we did anything about the recreational drug use at the club.
Claim: Whatever the challenge we’re willing to take it on….
Omission: but our preference is to duck under a challenge to get a free kick.
