So the AFL say the draw is weighted to reflect each team's finishing position the year before. Specifically (they say):
Bottom six: Clubs ranked 13-18 on the 2015 ladder will have either no return meeting or a maximum of one return meeting with clubs ranked 1-6. They will have a minimum of one or a maximum of two return meetings with clubs ranked 7-12. They will have a minimum of two and a maximum of three return meetings with other bottom six clubs.
So how do we do? We play WCE, Port, Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood twice. That's one team ( Port) in the top six, two teams (WCE and Collingwood) in the mid-six, and two teams (Collingwood and Carlton) in the bottom six.
In other words, our draw is perfectly fair. Add our bonus home game against the Suns and we've got nothing to complain about.
We're also getting a good run of the Big Melbourne Clubs at the new stadium - Essendon, Hawks, Carlton, Collingwood - which will keep our bean counters happy and (maybe) the umpiring execution squad quiet.
