Logue played forward in two games, against the Roos, where his ability to play the mystical "swingman" role looked quite promising (kicking 1.3), and then against the WC (0.0). He got dropped in the wake of the Derby. When he came back about 7 games later he got to play in the backline, where he looked a lot more assured and decisive with his attack on the ball.
Logue is still pretty green compared to most draftees in terms of experience at a junior level, so I'd agree with the school of thought that has him building his feel for the game by seeing it unfold in front of him from the backline and if he gets a little lost from time to time, he can simplify his focus to just destroying the opposition play.
On the original point regarding phantom drafts and ratings players against where they "should" be taken. Picks aren't hard currency and still have a large degree of speculation about them, so it's not that useful to get too hung up on where a player is perceived now. Especially as players shift quite radically within a 12-18 month period. About 12 months ago Fogarty was being touted as a prospective #1 pick by many and 18 months ago this was going to be a super draft.
