We'll get some academy kids in from next year and they look high-end talent wise (pity we don't quite qualify for F/S for Stephen O'Reilly's kid), will mitigate not going high end in that draft.

Plus given we've traded a heap of picks from next year, pushing those draft picks down is like you getting paid the interest on your credit card purchases.

I'll take good form over good potential any day.

With our recruitment over the last two years of 6 ready to go players the time to start our run is now.
Top 8 is the goal in 2018 anything less is a failure, top 4 in 2019 and winning the thing in 2020. That should be our planned trajectory. If we pull it off earlier then everyone is happy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Lloyd was seconded around the time Harvey was brought in as an assistant coach. Under his watch, this will be his second list overhaul. There was talk of that Geelong was going to nab him from under our noses. Lloyd would also be wary that unless we start playing finals next year, he'll be walking. It's a long way to the top if you want to rock'n'roll. We best start climbing.

The reason next year is being touted as a strong one is really probably only down to about three or 4 players who look outstanding prospects , So numbers 2&5 might be better next year , But i work on the theory a bird in the hand is worth two in bush

Terry Wallace has us finishing in about the same position in 2018 so we'll be around the pick 5 again on his reckoning. Should get (another) good young player in next years draft OR we get Hogan depending on his performance in 2018.
Btw Shane the kid's surname name wasn't Swallow was it? Remember one swallow doth not a (summer) premiership make. Mind you David could be up for grabs as might Jack Martin at the end of 2018. So much to speculate about.
To finish I again am disgusted at the under reporting of Freo's trading success in the West Australian. Dismissed and forgotten in 24 hours and so we get an article on Weller and how wonderful things are and will be at GC! Where are the articles on Wilson and Matera? Note there was a full back page on Ah Chee a few days ago. The West again demonstrates it's extraordinary bias against the Dockers - always negative.

Drubbing neither are Weller and Ah Chee but they get coverage. It is ageed among most of the media that Freo getting pick 2 for Weller was one of the mafor trading achievments in the trading period. Also I noticed in the West a view that Freo should thank WCE for being able to land pick 2. Go back to Fridays paper and have a read. The West will always spin a Freo gain in some neagative way.

In my mind when they say "super Draft" to me all that means is that you'd probably get good value right across most of the first picks. So it wouldn't matter if you were pick 3 or pick 12, you'd still get a top talent. Whereas this year the top talent probably stops at around pick 6 or 7.
