Polly, I'm not even sure that Scott knew what he was supposed to do at that point.

Fiddling with his glasses was probably the safest option

That signing room look pretty drab. You'd think they could jazz it up with some LED lighting and cupholders or something.

So that's what it looks like when you spend the bosses money on something, spent way too much and didn't get a receipt so he could take it back.

Mark Evans just learnt a valuable lesson.
When you attempt to poach a contracted player, you never say "we will do the deal to get you here". You say "we want you and we will do our very best to get you here"

Once Ross/Lloyd found out that Evans gave that rock solid commitment to Weller, then Freo had the whip hand.

Imagine the consequences for Gold Coast's future recruitment efforts if they did not honour the Weller commitment.

I found it interesting in Lloyds comments after he said well done to Gold Coast and the AFL in securing Lachie.

PS I still find that front page of the West funny.

WANTAWAY half-back Lachie Weller says Fremantle would be “silly” not to accept Gold Coast’s offer to bring him back to Queensland next season.'

Clayton & Roly has history between them. They were teammates at Fitzroy which then became the Bris Bears. They remain friends and a little of me want to think that the Weller deal went beyond friendship. Maybe they've played poker together and Roly knew the type of player he was.

I am still fuming that Clayton did that pick swap with WC first then tried to off load their future first rounder on us. He has gifted WC three second round picks this year that could see the get every wa player worth anything, just hoping that Adelaide see Naughton as a Lever replacement and pick him up with pick 12 so WC don’t get him with 13.

Yeah, that trade period pretty likely spelled the end of our chances for snaring Liam Ryan.

Yep. That's true we can't have everything; as the having cake and eating it story goes. The second round picks are gone. Unless you were starting up a GWS team and had Sheedy at the helm. Then you can make up your own rules: preselection picks, compromise every other team's picks for a number of years, keep players out of the game if you don't want them to go to Freo.
Now we are stuck with picks 2 & 5. I think the glass is at least half full. Lloyd & Co have done a pretty good job I trust they'll do the due diligence thing with the players they bring to Freo.

Why is everyone expecting the eagles to get the best available WA talent? On their track record so far, they will go for the flashy once or twice a year types that Hackdorn, Monkey, Duffield and co tell them will be superstars. We will still have some genuine hard ball footy players available when we get to our 3rd and 4th rounders.
