We got Hamling for pick 35 at the same age last year. If that's the market rate for guys keen to return home, pick 40 is about the mark ft Crozier.

Or, put another way, Freo and the Footsdogs basically swapped Crozier and Hamling over consecutive years. Who did better?

I like Crozier, but you'd take Hamling every time.

Unfortunately he was penalised by our playing our old players when we were in our window in 2015, and was left to stagnate in the wafl.

Crozier certainly was a tradable commodity, but I agree, I 'm not certain we've got a great return for a youngish, highish draft pick player.
If he and (hopefully) one of the 'S's' turns into Wilson, then thats a good outcome. If he turns into Matera, its not a good deal..

Im not sure I have the confidence in our lot to get the better deal done.
Think one of the last posts said it well. Our problem is that we dont have many tradeable players. The stuff we'd like to get rid off, has no trade value.

In sheep terms they are NCV's and we are stuck with 'em until we delist them.

A Crozier on the field and up to speed with Roly's game plan [and I digress but its important, Roly takes a long time to bring them to gameday readiness] is "Gold" should get pick 15 for him because we can show he's not vulnerable to knee recos and hami's. Here is a player with no "baggage" ready to go and we traded him for 40. Buffoons of list management take heed, A Crozier in the hand is way better than a Ballas with a hami suscepibility or a Bennel with a knee problem. A Crozier that we have all "suffered" with and finally paying dividends is worth at least 2 pick 30's.
IMO keep him as a Crozier in the hand is worth 2 x pick 40's in the draft (at Fremantgle at least)

For those who think that Crozier was a better HB than a forward flanker has got rocks in their heads. He was always a replacement for Ballas or Mickey when they were injured. I'll take what we got for Crozier and used that to help get Wilson. Perhaps this trade will free up Weller to move into the midfield. The Balic deal to Melbourne is intriguing.

If he wants to leave the hard bargain option is reduced because he can basically walk at the end of current contract. Ask GWS about CamMac. Better to do a reasonable trade when you can.

Yes. Crozier has been at our club since he was 17 and seems very close to his family. That must have been hard, but he's been upbeat and hard-working, even when he wasn't given the opportunities his talents would deserve, in my opinion. Crozier has been a real positive for Freo, but as he wants to go home, I'm glad Freo are making it easy for him. I think the club has done the right thing here.
