Ok, Croz didb't break games apart at half back but he looked good and gave us confidence. But we persisted with Sheridan as a half bacj...for how many games? I reckon Croz showed more in his handful than Tommy did over a couple of seasons. Much more.

Good luck to the Croz and his hair. I think he might go Ok at the Dogs with their style.

For Freo, this is a no brainer. His best position was at half back and yet Ryan, Hamling, Johnson, Wilson, A Pearce, Blakely, Weller and probably even Spurr, Hughes and Logue would all be rated above him in defence.

Even assuming Nyhuis and Tucker dont get any better, thats still a lot of players that would have to get injured before he gets a game in our back 6.
He is clearly superfluous to our rebuild and this is what we need to do build this team.

While it is reported that McCartney said Crozier will be a half back at the Dogs, this is the full quote, which seems to indicate they rate him about where we do.

McCartney told the club’s website he saw Crozier as a good, versatile option.
“Hayden’s got a great athletic profile, which will allow us the flexibility to play him back, forward or wing, with his aerial game a particular strength," he said.

I'm not sure of that, but even if that was the case it doen't contradict (more reinforces) they rated his ability to play one of the trickier positions on the ground. Especially with the thinner coverage in that area following Yarran's departure.

We took a long time to develop crozier after putting a lot of games into him. The returns are just coming and now we have pick 40? List management are gamblers and unfortunately they have gambled talent and experience for 40???
They think there is some magic player out there better then "Croze + talent + gametime + hairstyle" that they can pickup at 40???. And while were on the subject how come we got rid of Collins, he was showing a lot of promise at the end of last season. Im sick of playing snakes and ladders when there are twice as many snakes as ladders.

I'm with you carey I don't think we did very well with this deal. Crozier is not yet 24 and still has plenty of potential. He may never fulfill that potential but I would rather something better than pick 40 to convince me otherwise. Fremantle put alot of work into him and it seems like we are selling him cheaply just as we are about to see the reward. Who knows. Unfortunately I think we are desperate for picks and Crozier is the only one worth anything.
