Kersten was recruited as a key forward. He won the single game for us this season with that late kick vs Kangaroos I think it was, but overall he was what I would call a flop. He didn't impose himself on games and his goal return was poor as was his ball skills. Admittedly McCarthy was similar, however, I think he deserves a break as he had a year out of the game, I expect a totally different McCarthy this forthcoming season. Kersten didn't show too much at Geelong, hence they bit our hand off when we took him, and has done nothing to enhance his standing by his output in 2017. Im expecting much of the same from him next year, but Im pretty sure he won't fluke top 10 finish in the Doig again.
