Just back from my 15km run as it so happens, Polly. It took me two and a half years, the majority of it done with a skinful and on a full stomach, but my kicking was pinpoint, lace out and centimetre perfect, albeit it was pitch black and I wasn't aiming at anything in particular - a sentiment shared no doubt when Brad runs towards the forward 50 and tries to make sense of the forward movements ahead of him (if any) and then remembering, that voice like Ernie from Sesame Street niggling in his head, the Boss's mantra about kicking backwards, sideways and inside out.

While I can recall Pav not chasing a couple of times in his last 100 games Morgs, Pavlich did lay 233 tackles in that time. Including a career high 10 in his last season, game 340 v Carlton.

Look, I don't know how AFL stats are recorded. Pav was so solidly built in his last few seasons that his own personal gravity meant several small half-backs actually just ran straight into him. If those are counted as tackles, sure.

But he sure as hell didn't chase many people down in his last few years. Coaches will tell you that forward pressure acts are really important, and I agree they are. It doesn't mean you don't pick the one guy who could take a contested mark on the basis that he doesn't chase.

B Hill isn't a very good kick, and in a couple of games (like the home Derby) it cost us bigly. Hopefully he gets better at it. But if we are close enough in last quarters over the next few years, his run will help us win some close games.

Morgan, after watching the GF, I went to footystats to see what Martins tackling stats are. I can only come to the conclusion that the blokes who used to run into Pav are now running into Martin, because in 2 finals, I didn't see him run 1 meter to chase an opponent.

He ran half a metre after Lachie Neal in the dying seconds of our first game against Richmond in 2017, until he ran into Sandi that is. But Sandi's gravitational attraction is bigger than Pav's.
