According to this article on the club website here, Brady's been doing some Next Generation Academy coaching.

I hope this is an indication that he will:

1) Be offered a new contract, and
2) Will accept offered contract

With all the talk of players leaving the club, I'd like some good news on the retention of our young talent that is currently uncontracted. That is quite a list at present and according to this list includes:

Grey
Griffin
Deluca
Strnadica (Rookie)
Uebergang (Rookie)
Suban
Taberner
Nyhuis
Collins
Duman (Rookie)
Sheridan
Clarke

I've left out Balic & Crozier as they are effectively out the door and Ibbo & Dawson as they've retired.

Take three names off that list - Sheridan and Grey signed to 2018 & Hendrix delisted.

Happy with the Grey signing, not surprised with Hendrix's delisting and ambivalent to Sheridan - he must really have some good photos of Roly et al in incredibly compromising situations!?

With the prospective drafting of Matera & Wilson, it seems unlikely Sheridan makes our best 22 (injuries notwithstanding) come round 1, 2018.

My best 22 would be:

FB: E.Hughes J.Hamling L.Ryan
HB: N.Wilson* A.Pearce E.Langdon
C: S.Hill N.Fyfe B.Hill
HF: L.Weller B.Cox M.Walters

I don't see room for Tabs, Kersten, Sheridan or Sutcliffe. Collins seems to be a depth player (assuming he re-signs). Seems a pretty strong team on paper but the power forward role is still unfilled - unless the club uses Sandi/Darcy as the 'resting forward'.

Matera will take Ballas role eventually (if not earlier, depending on the pre-season).

Expecting D.Pearce to retire as he will spend next season at Peel and that may not appeal to him.

Brady's coaching included an initial session with the East Freo Yr6/7 that was 80% Jono talking about his footy career. He then did his hammy and didn't coach again until Tuesday when the Claremont Yr6/7 coach couldn't make the carnival and Brady took over.

Still makes a good story.

I hope to see Brady play the whole season without injury, love the way he goes about it. Every team needs a bloke like him in it, guys who are not the most talented but try their guts out every game, are courageous and put the team first.

Speaking of past tough players in the ilk of Brady I saw Troy Cook's picture at the Doig. Does anyone know it he is currently involved at the club?

Cookiemonster is part of the Wirrpanda Foundation through Sport & Rec based in Leederville I do believe. Not sure of any direct affiliation with the club - just took down my photo of Mr Cook and Mr Parker walking off Subi at their retirement after Freo belted the Dees; it had faded quite sadly, but one of my favourites for sure.
