It's the chaos and uncertainty principle. If the Dockers don't understand their own tactics, what chance the opposition?

Jim, How do you know the disease isn't management making poor hiring decisions?

You don't. Well, I don't at least. I'm not at the club and even if I was I couldn't tell. I don't pretend to know how to win a premiership or even improve handball skills.

I see two possibilities:
(i) Our coaches are incompetent and if we could replace them with someone better our problems would be solved and the team would walk on water to the premiership cup.
(ii) We're at the bottom of a cycle, our players are inexperienced and maybe not the most talented group in the afl either and we need to stick with the program and improve everything.

Personally I find (ii) more believable.

I do know that I hear a fair bit of bitching and it eventually becomes toxic for the club. And hard to listen to. Bitching and two bob solutions could keep us around the bottom of the ladder forever.

Hang on. You were talking about the disease keeping teams down the order. Not Fremantle.

We should really be on the hunt for some experienced senior coaches, especially one of those that has previously been a senior coach elsewhere or would Ross feel too intimidated by this?

Completely agree Goober. That was the original point of my post. Forget getting anymore unproven coaches. Without checking every club coaching panel, they all seem to have a good spread of experience at high levels or have coached at other clubs in some degree or another.

We don't have any of that. Surely you need other experienced heads to bounce ideas off. Businesses work with a good spread of experience and seniority(well mostly from my knowledge) not just big boss guru man and some underlings that have no public presence. In fact I would imagine just about all other club supporters would be battling to name anyone else on our coaching staff, plus quite a few here who couldn't name too many.

Maybe it's just me who has an interest and can name a few from other clubs though?

Corporal my daughter went to Sydney and her mates didnt even know who Fyfe was. Never heard of him, knew Buddy though. I think your supposition that they wouldnt know our ass coaches is a fair bet!

I agree CA that our assistant coachinng panel is not up to spec, and we need RoLy to be challenged, rather than having obsequious acolytes in there.

Having said that, if you went with experienced ex coaches in there, you're laking about Mick, Choco, or Rocket...and...well...that just aint gonna work is it?!!

The only ex - coach Roly could work with is Roosy...and i dont think that would bring about the challenge we need......

Is Justin Leppitch an assistant coach at Richmond? If so it may explain why Hardwick seemed to keep the team all together this year and have a game plan to win. Two experienced heads!

It wasn't hard to get a list of the coaching staff at the FFC. Here is what you will find from the FFC website.
Michael Prior former (East Perth), Essendon and Eagles player has been an assistant coach at various clubs
Roger Hayden - remember him?
Simon Eastaugh or Him?
Anthony Rock ?
David Hale
Brent Guerra
Mark Stone, Adam Read, Tom Morris (the rowing bloke)
These blokes have a combined experience of over 1,000 AFL playing games and decades of AFL experience in various states and clubs. Some big names in that lot – many former Afl top shelf players.

...and when all these luminaries played their combined 1000 games, they all exhibited the stodgy, outdated, fustercluck footy and game plan that we currently play....

Dont think so, but without strong personalities in there (ie like Suma, like Kirk), the Top Man's ways arent gonna change...

Stoney has at least gone elswhwhere, so will be interested who his replacement will be. Scotty Thompson would be a good addition, I think...
