The reasons we were 14th in 2017 would be similar to the reasons Richmond were 13th in 2016. It’s a tough competition and you need a lot of things to go right firstly to finish in the top 8 and then to win the GF. Richmond were on when they needed to be, and with their heritage and history they are likely to finish 14th in 2018.

Most sides which lost any game this year or any year by more than 4 or more goals would have likely had a degree of poor skill execution during the game...that’s partly why they lost, and that would include the Crows and Tigers this year. It’s rare for a side to have consistently good skill execution. Hawthorn are an example where excellent recruiting and a bit of luck can produce a list that can kick exceptionally well.

2nd tier quality players will increase poor skill execution stats, that’s why they’re 2nd tier.

I agree with some parts Jason but definitely not the CEO/president claims. You obviously weren't at a members meeting I went too where Rosich stated 'if it ain't broke fix it anyway' relating to changes being made in particular the jumpers. Also I recall Harris saying he didn't even follow footy til Connelly rented a house from him so not sure he was a diehard. Don't know much about our new President. But as HArvs said to many of us at a dinner, don't chuck in memberships especially over him, just keep supporting our boys no matter what, which is what I continue to do.

Was anybody else surprised by how many players with only a handful of games played well for Richmond.
Looks to me they had buy in from everybody, if players don't buy in then move them on. As my employer likes to say "if you cant change your people then change your people".

Fair call Docker by the Sea, when you look at how many talented kids are out there in draft land and how many overlooked WAFL, SANFL, NEAFL, VFL players are showing off their wares every week the club could do no worse than turning over our dead wood such as Sutcliffe, Sheridan, Spurr, Griffin and possibly Apeness, Clarke and Suban. Might sound harsh but it's not as though we finished top 8 these last 2 years - something has to be done.

Yes Jason I remember that effort in the 2016 Peel GF. But then in typical Freo style we went and did exactly the same thing as we did with Crozier and played him as a half forward.
If he is to play as a running half back he'll have to get a game before Ryan, Weller, Hughes, Blakely and most likely Wilson.
Hughes perhaps in back pocket, Blakely on ball? But Ryan and Weller would play there before him you would think and Wilson of course.
