Have not always been a huge fan of Tabener, but after watching the two AFL finals on the weekend plus the WAFL, he was certainly as impressive as the 4 big forwards playing for the AFL sides.Tex Walker started strutting around like he had won the match on his own in the last quarter but had little influence before that. Biggest attribute is that he is a great kick. Hawkins is the most over rated big forward in the game, you wouldn't take him if they gave him to with a set of gold steak knives. Patton is a choker, who may have the odd good day but at the moment they are few and far between. Jack Riewoldt was next to useless and scored a goal in junk time!
Tabener actually stacks quite well with this lot if given a go. I guess what i am saying is, unless they are of real class, big forwards are not essential in the "modern" game. A fast leading good marking smaller player who can kick well under pressure is of more use than a big lumbering guy who gets run off regularly .
