None of that namby-pamby over-paid cosseted AFL professional stuff - Year 12 state champs at Steel Blue Oval tomorrow (Saturday).
Premiers from the Year 12 comps from South, Central and Northern conferences play off in a round-robin tournament of 3 games of 2x20 minute halves.
First game (South v Central) bounces at 10.30, second at 11.40 and last game at 12.50.

I'll be cheering on Ocean Ridge, representing the West Perth/Subi/Claremiont zone. They lost their GF last week by 3 points to Scarborough, but Scarborough have pulled out for reasons unknown to me. So they could become, officially at least, the best team in the state but only second best in their district.

My young bloke played in the same age group in the East Freo district and that Winnacott team played in every GF from Year 8 thru to Year 12 - winning 4, I believe.

Any side that can knock them off for the State Flag will have to be exceptional.

Decent side Winnacott. Won both their games. Waiting on the third game now with a serving of Steel Blue hot chips. Gone the full vinegar and chicken salt option. It's an experience. Not one I think I want to repeat, but an experience all the same.

Good point FT,

Melville played in most of those losing GF's to Winnacott and I dare say in most other Leagues they would have won several flags in a row. Though I do recall them winning at least one flag through that period.

They were often responsible for knocking out my young blokes side, Rossmoyne Raiders, in Prelims.

Melville won Yr10 and I think Yr9.

Winnacott wouldn't have been at full strength today with colts players in GF tomorrow.

Both teams have great players but Melville's Tom Joyce the most promising.

Madenoz beat Ridge in Game 3 - kicked a goal with the last kick to seal it by 10 points. Cracking arm wrestle of a game though.
Can't remember exact scores - think Winacott beat Ridge by 24 and Madenoz by slightly more than that - 30 possibly.
I may never recover from the chips.
