SEN reporting he wants home and Freo is into him.
Is there ever a player we are not linked to?
Apparently we offered Mason Cox a 4 year deal too?

It's because Bond never comes out says "we haven't made any contact with player x" when these reports come out from the players manager.
In fact he probably calls them and says "really x wants to come to Freo? What will it take?" To which said manager then makes another release stating freo have offered a four year deal worth $xxx,000 per year"
Bondie gets on the phone again "really that's all, when do we sign"
Two weeks later said player signs an extension with current club.

Cox has re-signed at Colonwood.

So that's Cox and McGovern out. Boekhurst, Matera, Wilson and Fasolo still in.

Have i missed any? Late mail on Hogan as another in.

Can somebody start a rumour that Clarkson wants out and Freo have offered a 4 year deal yadda, yadda, yadda....

Might convince a couple of dudes cruising on a long term contract to extract the digit a bit.

Although Phil Matera didn't hit his straps until about 25 so B Matera could be about ready to explode .

It was only 3 weeks ago we all agreed to move heaven and earth, and pay whatever it takes to get a TALL forward. Now all and sundry want to go the cheapskate route and get 2 short forwards for the price of a tall forward. Footy bargain bins don't work like that.

We have been prepared to pay whatever for a tall forward for years now but no one has been prepared to come. Watching Charlie Dixon the other night brought home how much someone like him would have brought to our club. Questions should be asked as to why we are such an undesirable destination for players other than those returning home. Perhaps we need to look at who is doing the selling?
Having said that, Freo needs goalkickers whether they are 6'5 or 5'5 and Fasolo would be a great addition if a deal is feasible. Ballantyne, Matera and Fasolo would be a handy mosquito fleet.

MikeW knows where the big sticks are. Langdon interchanging as the wide runner with Brad and Stephen Hill, Blakely moving permanently into the middle with Lachie and Fyfe makes sense, and send Mike back to the 50 where he can circle like a tattooed short-tempered shark. I reckon we need a sweeping general CHB who can break a line with vision to replace the other Mike's ageing legs even more urgently than a fleet of midget submarines. Is Nathan Wilson that kind of mobile defender? A big body FF is what we need too, whether Tabs can be that, or Apeness, or ZacClarke is the question. Darcy crunching packs would be a spectacle I'd enjoy. If Wilson is keen and capable, he should be a priority, and with Hamling, Hughes, A.Pearce, Ryan, Logue and Collins we seem to have that area of the ground covered. Our midfield and wings are good to go too. One ruckman and one key forward would make a hell of a difference, and we may well have those already in Strnadica, Uebergang and Apeness. Injuries and faffing are the issues. This is going to be a preseason of promise - throw in, potentially, Brander and things might appear to be taking shape. The big question is who will be traded? I reckon it is a certainty to happen, but whom.

Small forwards are rapidly becoming the '17-'20 version of the '12-'15 version of the midfielder. Get rid of Bond and get a 6' 4" general manager. We might get a full forward, centre half forward and a couple of key backmen then.

"Questions should be asked as to why we are such an undesirable destination for players other than those returning home. Perhaps we need to look at who is doing the selling?"

Please explain why would a footballer leave the large Melbourne AFL community and move to Perth - 2 clubs + WAFL - if he wasn't homesick and coming home. It's so much easier to change clubs in Melbourne and retain family, friends, and lifestyle. Some players who are drafted to Perth like it and stay, but others are happy to leave. Our efforts should be aimed at local product, however, it is unlikely that the local guys who become top dogs in Melbourne are going to want to move back while the champagne and girls are flowing. It's tough, but having 10 of 18 clubs plus the game admin in Melbourne gives them a natural recruitment advantage.

Yeah I reckon this could be a good value pick-up. He will only cost a late pick or a fringe player and he can sometimes turn a game by himself.

We've already got a player like the Fasolo types that's ready to explode. What Harley Bennell can do surpasses any player playing the HFF role. Not to mention his powers in the midfield should Freo want to use him there. A No. 2 draft pick, a prodigious talent, and we got a taste of it in Rd 22 & 23. At the moment, our aim is to get Jesse Hogan to the club. The rest are just steak knives.

Jezza both Jesse Hogan and Rory Lobb knocked us back last year, what makes you think they will have changed their mind now, especially since signing new contracts?
