I had some very low expectations for Nick Riewoldt's commentary. He did not meet them.

I dont know if anyone took in Foxtel's half time analysis but they spoke about the fact that GWS players were interlocked during the national anthem opposed to the Adelaide players who were spread apart.

Jordan Lewis said that Hawthorn were always an "interlocking team". Brereton thought the Adelaide players may have been employing a psychological tactic of creating a visual impression of having more players on the field by spacing out their stance.

The lady whose name I dont know said, "well it certainly isnt impacting the way Adelaide are playing".

It's something a lot of the teams don't get a chance to practice.

I'm a big advocate for a hybrid interlock - underlock national anthem formation. That way you look united but it also looks like there are a lot of you.

Just on the game last night, as someone who has been slamming the AFL for creating a draft concession induced monster that was going on a competition destroying dynasty over the next five years the irony of GWS not having enough Matt de Boers on the night was not lost on me.

This is a team that does not give defending a thought till its too late.

Adelaide are an interesting team. They rarely fall hard for any extended period .
They have lost some talented players over the last few years , Boak, Phil Davis, Dangerfield and Tippet and yet they carry on and are more than competitive every year.
Instead of R Lyon and the CEO doing MBA's for 8 weeks in the USA , maybe spend some money and go to Adelaide to learn.

That's cause they consistently make sound balanced decisions - never over compensating, understand who they are, sell themselves beautifully to their members and in general seem to understand what they have going for them. They just get it. Always have.
