If I was an assistant coach, I reckon I'd weigh a few factors before choosing a destination, including quality of the head coach, prospects of team success, and things like club location, size and facilities. On that basis, Freo would probably rank mid-low table. So, we should be getting close to average assistants (on paper), but I reckon we're falling short.

My preference list would probably look something like:

2. Don Pyke (Adelaide)

3. John Longmire (Sydney)

4. Chris Scott (Geelong)

5. Luke Beverege (Footsdogs)

I'd have Cameron well below Buckley. He's one of the few that Lyon outcoached this. To have achieved so little with the list he was gifted just says 'can't coach' in flashing neon letters

Fyfe's going ok, no problem there. But losing Mikey a few weeks back took away a lot of on-field resolve - no way would he accept being part of some horrible losses, he would get into his teammate's faces like no one else. That's a fact.

In the past Johnno provided a lot of balanced on-field organisation/advice. After the Richmond game he was out shaking his opponent's hand with a tracksuit top on. He played out the game, but that said to me that his back was acting up - he was the only one out there with a tracksuit top on. I've had the same injury/surgery (twice actually) and I know how your lower back can seize up if it isn't kept warm. So, full credit to him for fronting up to meet the Bummers in the last round.

Adding the metrics of average age and total number of games of each team list to Morgans list would likely provide some balance to the ratings.

It's well documented that there's an optimL
mix of those factors plus the quality of recruiting that will bring success.
