Quoting Dockermus earlier in this thread: "setting aside the older players who have now retired, or been put out to pasture, just how many current Dockers squad players deserved to be dumped? What's left now is, with the odd exception, genuine quality".
Respecting the variance of opinion on this site, I beg to disagree. Our playing squad is fairly woeful and this is reflected in our 2017 season, especially finishing within a whisker of worst percentage in the league. When we win, we fall over the line due to lady luck. We don't belt sides by 80 points or more when we have a win. To suggest we are a squad consisting of players of genuine quality is akin to believing in fairy stories. Apeness, Z Clarke, D Pearce, Sutcliffe, Sheridan, Suban, Ballantyne, Griffin are not genuine quality. Most of these on the downward slide in terms of their career trajectory so expect them to be less competitive in 2018 than what we got from them in 2017. Unfortunately, it looks like most of these names will be on the list next year and that worries me.
