Beat me to it, both of you... why did we let him go???
Exactly what we need now.

PS it's GWS not Suns but that's not relevant ;)

He couldn't get a game with the Hawks as a Rookie in 2010. We picked him up as a rookie in 2011. So you'd reckon that given a 3rd go at AFL level you'd want to make sure it's 3rd time lucky. Don't know what the fuss is all about. Good luck to him but clearly the penny finally dropped.

We didn't even give him a go in reality. I can't recall him even getting a run in the firsts. Im not one to criticise Bond etc but this is one he really messed up on. Just imagine how much Menengola could have assisted our team over the past 2 seasons.

Got nothing to do with Bond. If you're taking that line, then Hawthorn right now would be using a few expletives. Just maybe, some players take an eternity to realise their potential. I think 7 years is probably just stretching a little.

calm your jets everyone and stop listening to the media trying to change history.
He was on our list in 2012,13,14 & 15 - quite a tough side to try and break into hey?
He was extremely injury prone and spent long periods on the injury list.
The fact that we kept him (and Mora) for that long shows how much we rated him.
He hardly dominated the WAFL In our time.
He played 2 games in 2013, 14 games in 2014 and averaged about 20 possies a game.
It wasnt until the 2nd half of 2015 after being delisted and playing for $ubiaco that he found his current form.
Good luck to him.
It probably says more about Jarrod Schofields ability to get players up and running at their full potential..

Totally agree demo

He plays well when allowed to and not under pressure. He played poorly & missed several easy kicks a few weeks ago when Geelong was under pressure - they lost that one

Do you watch Geelong every week then LS? Not that it would happen but are you saying he wouldn't be worth a game at Freo?

He didn't play well that week that you were watching but surely you've watched a lot of Freo games and there have been a hell of a lot of players who haven't had a good game for us on and off all season, pressure or no pressure.

Interesting response Demo. So Schofield and a bunch of near amateurs could turn him around and Scott at Geelong is getting the best out of him. Why couldn't we manage to do something with him after all those years on our list?

When he was with us I thought he epitomised (what many would call) a disinterested seagull - always sitting off the pack on the wing but never really wanting the chips that the other gulls were fighting over. Fair enough, good on him for making use of his skill set now.

GWS were hopeless last night - take away space for their ball movement and they start snitting-out like a bunch of petulant brats. They won't go anywhere, I'm surprised that some think they will.

He could not break into our side at the time he was delisted. That is the relevant conversation. Not how is doing a couple of years down the track, I agree with Polly's assessment.

There is no way we should have kept him given his injury record & inability to play better than many of the reserves at the time.

At Geelong he's been able to play injury free and as a result improved substantially - but he still is a questionable proposition when under pressure so keep him on our list till now? Never!

(yes I have watched him play this year many times on tv and wish him well as he has been a brilliant athlete since I first saw him perform as an 8yo at the local primary school)

There was this skinny kid who we picked up in a steak knives deal from the Hawks in 2001.

Couldn't string games together for the Hawks due to OP, then after a few seasons with us his body developed to allow his skill set to come to the fore.

Remember AA Luke??

The AFL is littered with stories of late maturing players doing well at their second or third AFL clubs.

Sorry, but if you're trying to find another reason to lambast Bond you'll need to do better than that.
