At his best, Johnno's strength was that he out thought his opponents. He knew what was the best position to be in, and he got there. I used to love watching him outnumbered 2 to 1 but somehow come out with the ball, or at least hold it up long enough for the cavalry to arrive. I saw him one Friday morning at a coffee shop in Freo, and he was watching Sydney on his laptop, just studying up for the weekend. It must be frustrating to be Johnno, still knowing what needs to be done, but not being quite fast enough to do it.
Mr Collins may have to forgive me if I'm wrong, but he's no Johnno. You might make a Johnno out of an Alex Pearce. And there's definite promise in Hamling.
