Lets say you only get to around 6 games a year because of other commitments, then a membership is a really expensive way of doing it. Given you'll be able to buy seats on the day. The AFL and Freo management may well find that they can't take Freo fans for granted anymore.

I think I have missed about 4 games in 14 years. This year I told the kids we were done as the machine that is the AFL has become too corrupt and Roly has wrecked the fun of watching footy. Truth be told we could have used the money on other things. There was a revolt and I relented as I thought there just might be a benefit towards seating at the new stadium. What a joke of a year. I never care to see one more bomb it long and see which opposition player comes up with it. It has sucked the fun right out. Our 3 memberships are done. Sad day for me.

I understand how you feel PurpleMom. When it got to 1200 per year for two memberships just to watch negative crap, I turfed mine in as well.

I'll go back when Bond and Roly are gone...and not before

The club went a long way to losing me with the jumper and the song. Boring footy is just the icing on top.

Both WA teams are going to get embarrassed by attendances at the new stadium. Both will struggle to half fill it regularly. Restricted seating has been a massive cash cow for both teams.

Given the way FFC has managed their list and coaching staff the last 5 years, there's no doubt they'll arse this up too, and only start thinking about it when their membership $$ plummet.

I've been a member since 2002. They've lost me, I won't be there next year. I used to get fired up at the footy and have many fond memories of being up out of my seat during games, even during bad years. The last few years, I've just ended up with a sore arse.

It's difficult to justify the cost of watching our team play when if in Melb, you pay $25 to watch games at Etihad or the G. Undoubtedly it'll be easier to get tickets at the new stadium anytime you want to watch Freo play but if success is only what brings you to games then we're fighting a losing battle. There's no guarantees that a new coach and administration will bring us success in the coming years. What I do know is that Fyfe and co will be around for a few more years. I'll persist.

I sit sat among familiar faces at Subi. Many of us have been members for years. Something about the quality of footy on offer today meant that there was a lot of distracted talk about memberships next year. The consensus was that (1) a reserved seat at the new stadium is going to cost more, probably a lot more and (2) a sizeable number said they were unwilling to cough up more $$$$ for the sort of rubbish currently being served up, by club and AFL. I think membership numbers will be down next season and I don't plan on renewing.

I suppose the players get paid to maintain some form of faith in the team. Getting paid must help even though I didn't think many of them today actually had faith in what their coaches were trying to sell them. I would like to say many of them tried but perhaps (in reality) too many of them just didn't buy it. Sad, but true.

Many here aren't buying the product of that faith, nor any of the faith that supporting the club for so many years can normally rely on. The way I see it, if the playing group don't have faith how could anyone reasonably believe that the seat renters would maintain it? RoLy's rebuild, whatever it is/whatever it's called, has gone nowhere - there's a lot of rebuilding of faith in FFC that needs to be done. Might be a good idea if Cockburn Control have a real good think about that.

It's sad that this was the farthest thing from Steve's mind as he sat there beside Gillon.

In fact, he hasn't even considered it, since word came through from that engagement mob that a couple of boobs clicked that they were prepared to pay $137,000 just to reserve their right to purchase a new stadium seat plus one bonus shoe shine at the gate from a greying latino immigrant.

Someone who knows how to work media socially should get this out there. Indeed, very, very, very careful is the call of the day.

I think the sudden increase in "seat availability" next year will drive a big dive in "memberships". Why pay a lot more for the whole season when one can easily buy a ticket to the games one can actually attend?

We won't be renewing our three memberships next year. We might reconsider if the Club actually started doing something about actively lobbying for a fairer draw, speaking up against the apalling umpiring and defending our players.
