Ballas and Brady Grey had roughly the same output this year, and while I love their attack on the footy I’m not convinced singe-figure disposals is enough to consistently get a game. Grey is only 22 and might improve. Ballas will be 31 next year, and could improve if he has an injury-free year, but it’s not a sure bet.
For what Ballas has done for the club I’d absolutely give him a one-year deal, but two years would be unwise. The D Pearce contract was baffling, and I reckon Bond would be loath to make the same mistake again.
Let’s hope that Ballas / his manager can make it through negotiations without dropping the E-word this year.
