I think it's great that the Dockers Admin and the Freo Council are on speaking terms again, and that Docker HQ's extortion levels scaled back from 'total bastards' to 'robust commercial bastards'; but is there any news on what the Fremantle Football Club's 'presence' at Fremantle Oval shapes to be after we hand back the lease?

Remind me again why the Freo Council has to pay the Dockers $1.5m to leave when they were given the place for free and were asked to stay? I knew the answer at one point but my guess it was farcical and the whole thing is back in my "this is an insane injustice" compartment in my brain.

Sadly, heritage and symbolism could never have won the first Dockers premiership, but, in the professional era, bang-up-to-date, 21st century training and preparation facilities might. Progress isn't always the popular choice, but it's usually necessary.

Not sure that there was an issue with council intransigence.
Cockburn made a better offer.
Much, much easier to build what you want/need on a greenfield site, than squeeze new facilities onto a constrained town centre location, with the added complication of heritage listing.
What's in a name? Sentimentality won't bring success.

It might be a community rec centre, but having visited it recently, it's a darn-sight better than the cramped facilities that were on offer at Freo Oval. Now, as a member of the public I didn't have special parking privileges, but I hated going there just to see training. FFC may have sold its soul to be located at Cockburn ARC, but to be honest, I'm OK with that.

They are officially still located at Seaford (where I live incidentally) however they are wanting to move back to Moorabbin (because that's their heartland apparently). Just like the hawks who are planning their ETAF in dingley village (look up how far that is from hawthorn in google maps.)
