You get nothing on the cheap in trade deals nowadays unless it's someone like Mitchell at 34 and now retiring.

He's no key position player that's for sure but he's quick, a great grab and a long accurate kick. Plus if it helped entice his brother it would be well worth it.

Still need a big strong pack marking forward. Think this is what we should be looking for as our first draft pick.

On available evidence Agarn, I'd say Mitchell went for overs.

Agree Biz, not at any price. No Neale, no first round pick, but maybe a fringe player, like Taberner (or stretching at Sutcliffe) and a high second rounder, if they can cobble one, might not be overly optimistic.

I'd do those trades RotV but I don't think Adelaide would. I wouldn't give up a second round pick in this draft either which looks to have a lot of depth (Balic should earn one if he's going, even with Bond organising a trade deal). I can't see any trade deal worth offering that Adelaide would accept.

Unfortunately I think the best case scenario is we raise the price the OOFTIT's pay for him.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I don't know how deals get done, but a forward line comprising Kersten, McCarthy and M McGovern looks nice and mobile and unpredictable to me.
Cox and Taberner offer some height. Adelaide has built a forward line that's strength lays in its diversity.
Add Fyfe, Bennell, Walters, Neale (who is hitting the scoreboard regularly), straighten Brad Hill.
Starting to see a team with pace and skill.
Backed by a young backline that looks to be taking shape with Logue, Ryan, Hughes, Weller.
Admittedly only Gold Coast tonight but the bones can be seen starting to emerge.

when you see articles in the worst claiming Freo are in prime position and offering $750K a year over 5 years,. you have to realise they are just setting everyone up for the the "eagles swoop" headline when it's revealed he's nominated them as his preferred club and they get the trade done for their second round pick, likely to be in the high 20's. and only on a 4 year deal at $500k due to the lure of playing with his brother.

The idea wouldn't be to prise McGovern out of the Crows, but be there to grease the wheels for him wanting to come home. With their forward line, he's hardly a must have for Adelaide and they'd be the one club that would likely to be more receptive to a midfielder-forward trade. Lever's the big sweat for them (and if he went maybe Cox would all of a sudden have a lot of added cache for them).

It's nice that player agents are using us as a stalking horse in the media again. It had been a couple of years. But there's no way we're offering McGovern the Younger $750,000 a year.

I wonder how much truth there is to the rumour that younger players like McGovern were upset about the way West Coast treated Priddis. Lyon took a fair bit of stick for not ruthlessly discarding some of our old blokes, instead giving them a couple of rounds to see if they still had it (spoiler: they didn't). I reckon players notice that sort of thing.

I think it really help the Dockers cause that, as an organisation, they are not dominated by media whores.
Sports reporters seem to have "put it out there", with generally unsupported stories about Freo, in the hope they're close to the mark, in stark contrast to the other mob up the road.
I imagine that all footy players would generally prefer to deal with questions about their futures quietly and discreetly. Respect cuts both ways.

Have heard the Cobblers are cobbling the following deal; Balic to go Carlton, Gibb to go to Adelaide and Mitch to come to WA at the Dockers to join his brother who will leave the Eagles as a Restricted free agent at the end of 2018 Win Win for everyone
this really could be a dream?

Agree DbtS
He missed the easy set shot goal when it was really needed - unreliable under pressure
