TOPIC: Dangerfield tackle.

Nope Shane, I would be complaining coz they were shooting blanks at him.

If the AwFL is serious about getting rid of these "blights on the game" then they should punish everyone equally, and do it every time. OR don't punish anyone at all. At any time.

They tried not punishing anyone at all for jumper punches earlier this season and you weren't happy with that.

I think what you mean is punish everyone for everything because Johnno got four weeks in 2007.

Consistency is all people want to see. Should not matter whether you're in contention for a Brownlow (as was Fyfe with the bump and head clash, but he still got suspended ) or you're playing your first AFL game, the MRP needs to be consistent and treat all players exactly the same.

Yeah Morgan, we all remember the Johnno 4 weeks. I can't be sure, but at the time didn't you argue that he was lucky to get away with just 4 weeks for letting that guy run into his bum?

Regardless of the penalty someone will have a whinge. Look back on this thread and you can see how one incident has 100's of different interpretations and possible outcomes. Then, bizarrely, the only thing that we all agree on is the need for consistency from the MPR. Good luck with that! No two tackles are identical and even if they were, we'd all have different views and still expect the MRP to magically come up with an outcome that keeps us all happy.

I'm not he is in my fantasy team , I disagree with the week besides that , I thought the tackle was o.k , You must remember Kruezer is a big guy , And he did try to turn him at the end , Our game has become too technical , And if Kruezer gets up and walks away , no penalty , All i can say anyone who bets on the outcome of the Brownlow is an idiot,Far to easy to get reported these days

Kruezer didn't get up and walk away. He was out for the rest of the game.

The game hasn't become too technical, its become a game that recognises the long term health effects of concussion. Dangerfield has a responsibility to Kruezer after he pinned his arms. That responsibility was to ensure that he didn't allow Kruezer to be injured as a result of his actions abd he failed to do that.

If you allow players to avoid that responsibility, you can expect tacklers to make sure that their opponents get a damn good thumping into the dirt as part of every tackle. Dangerfield was responsible for Kruezer hitting his head...hard and under the rules covering tackles, thats not allowed.

The tackle was simply not ok

I'm not happy he's out either as he is in my fantasy team as well but he deserved some sort of punishment, the tacklee, Kreuzer, might miss this week as well and he is in my fantasy team AND my DuFFLe team.
Sheeez suspend him for the season.

In future, the MRP will be replaced, and instead a vote of all people who have fantasy teams will decide who is suspended and for how long...

Clearly the betting agencies leant on the MRP to remove the favourite from the Brownlow field.

No matter the result, there's always a conspiracy to fit.

That is about when some of the big inconsistencies in MRP decisions started, Morgan, so probably a fair call. But if you look at my posts, I don't necessarily call for hanging on these decisions. I do want everyone hung, if you are going to hang one however. And the AwFL trots out the "we must stamp out this blight on the game" all the time and with every rule change. But they don't stamp them out, they selectively apply the penalties.

Imagine if the umps went back to rewarding tackles, and penalising throws/drops. Players would be disadvantaged by holding onto it and locking it in. Suddenly they would look to get rid of it, or move it on quickly. Players would need to move into more space, rather than congregate around the ball, where they are easy targets for a tackle. Not only would the game open up and move more freely, there would be less tackles laid. Tackles wouldn't have to be so absolute in order to be rewarded, so the time spent on pinning both arms etc as a technique would be reduced. Fewer tackles applied less rigorously equals less risk of injury from these events.

Treat the cause, not the symptom.
