Supporters seem to follow the same patterns regardless of the team they follow, despite the belief held by some, that as Dockers supporters we are some how exempt from this. I find it difficult to fathom what has happened to West Coast since playing in a GF two years ago. Am I the only one that see's the parallel to our own storyline. Looking from the outside Eagles supporters are now turning on their own and there will be rising discontent and calls to sack the coach.
Interestingly most Carlton supporters seem to be content with Bolton, based upon an improved ability to defend and effort. A very solid case could be made forour rebuild progressing at a more than adequate rate. They also lack a real power forward and have had many more higher picks with which to recruit one. Also ignores the attractions for players to want to play in Melbourne for those that want to debate the existence of any advantage gained by being a Victorian non travelling club.
Counter to this Hawthorn and Sydney could be used as examples of teams avoiding rebuilds following "form"slumps this year. Maybe these teams older bodies are able to hold on at a higher level without the requirement to fly every second week. Perhaps it takes developing players a little time to come to grips with the demands placed by this.
Many will argue that I am making excuses, I say I am pointing out some mitigating factors that may contribute to our performance and also make it slightly unfair to directly compare the outcomes at different clubs.
