Clarkson ability to coach has zero relevance in a conversation about Lyons ability to coach.
Clarksons brilliance is often justified by the success of his protégés at other clubs eg Bolton at Carlton. This argument disregards our lack of success since Hale and Guerra have arrived. The transformation Mitchell was to offer West Coast, has failed to materialise. When former Lyon apprentices go on to clubs and have success ie Scott, this is used as evidence for why our team played well for a period of time in spite of Lyon.

Clarkson's ability to coach is perfectly relevant when discussing Lyon's ability as it provides a benchmark against other coaches can be measured.

Clarkson's brilliance or otherwise shouldn't be measured by what other coaches do but by what he is able to do.

As for Lyon's apprentices, well Chris Scott was an ass coach to Mark Harvey and never to Ross Lyon. So, if we take your argument to the conclusion you had before, then we should have kept Mark Harvey as coach as his apprentices have had success, where Lyon's haven't.

Anyway, as I said, judge a coach on what they achieve and not what others achieve

Hale and Guerra had never coached before they came here so that's got nothing to do with Clarkson and more to do with Lyon and the board.........and what appears to be their poor judgement.
