People get injury's playing contact sport after they are 21? We loose a few of our young blokes periodically to injuries playing for Peel. If we waited till 21 wouldn't everyone under 21 be playing in the local leagues anyway and just as high a risk as getting hurt?

We have kids injured at the moment in the Year 7's carrying hammys, chipped knuckle bones, collar bones. I'm guessing young people doing contact sports / sports are going to have to wear some damage periodically through out their lives.

I appreciate the intensity at high level takes it toll, you see that in Olympic gymnastics for example, but under 21 you are going to be off doing something else exciting if you are told you can't paly footy at the highest level, don't you recon?

This is where we need to send up the Tragic signal, but I believe that human beings have a greater capacity for recovering from a traumatic injury if it occurs (roughly) before they turn 20 than if it happens after.

To add to the worry of injuries is the concussion. Angus Bradshaw, Kade Kolohjasni and more recently the 19 yr old who had to retire because of head knocks add to the argument of having mature bodies. Not to say that older blokes with mature bodies are not susceptible to head knocks. Rugby league and union don't play boys against men. They play in U18s or U21s before clubs recruit them. Clearly injuries occur at all age groups but in AFL, clubs tend to not play their young ones until they've been developed physically and mentally.

Just checked our injury list and it's actually TBC not TBA.

So Clark-knee TBC, Uebergang-hamstring TBC. In his case it's taken 18mths to confirm he has a hamstring and that it's injured?
Duman has joined the dreaded TBC list-back. See you next year sometime.

I thought we might be the worst as far as TBC/Season ending injuries go Corporal. But if you look at the injuries list, we aren't and there's a few others meeting our standards. Hawthorn, Gold Coast, WB, Carlton and Nth Melbourne.

Sort of the group that we are in, I guess.... Whether their seasonal injuries have been out for 2 or so years is probably the question....?

In fact I have Morgan - when Elvis was injured (and before Alex played in the bigs for the first time) outside Gate 8 mid-way through 2014 (I think). It was at the end of the 1st quarter/start of the 2nd, we were up by 5 goals against Geelong and I was feeling great - having a smoke outside the Billy Walker room. Along comes Luke and this other tall bloke I didn't recognise - inadvertently I hollered out 'Hey, Elvis - how you going' and Luke smiled and came over for a handshake.

Luke's buddy had the same Dooker corporate suit on - leaner but taller than Elvis - I didn't recognise him immediately, but Luke said ' ...and this is Alex' (so I said g'day and shook his hand). He was beaming ear to ear, shook my hand and said 'he called you Elvis' and laughed with Luke. The beetled off real quick but he kept nudging Luke with his elbow - like little brother ribbing big brother - seemed like really good mates.

Yeah, big hands/bones - as wide as Luke in girth, a bit taller but nowhere near as thick/solid, bigger shoes though. A real sparkle in his eyes, big smile and the suit fitted him about as well as a bread bag.

I want Port's fitness team. They don't have an injury at the moment. Unheard of for this time of the year. In fact they've had hardly any injuries all year and none long term.
