For everybody espousing the end of the world I have a question. Which team is better placed after today's derby. The Eagles with much more experience lucky to win, or us with the number of players under 50 games that we played today and more in the wings. I would argue that we held sway for more of the game and should have won but for horrible execution forward of centre.

2 bottom eight teams, one the Weagles topped up with imported veterans supposedly making a play for a premiership and the other, us, a development team with stacks of young relatively inexperienced players. This is a no brainer, the Weagles miss the finals and have nowhere to go but down whilst we look like a good finals prospect next year with a shot at the big prize in the 2-3 years after.

Blakely
Weller
Langdon
Hughes
Nyhuis
Ryan
Cox
Darcy
Deluca
Add in McCarthy
That's a pretty good list of players who have stood up under AFL standards and will improve. Taberner is still a possibility to add to this list.
Now we need a KPF. A big guy who can clunk a mark in the square. We should try for Rory Lobb if possible and certainly look to recruiting one of the young U18 KPPs who played so well in the U18 competition.

There ain't too much we can do about the past, but on the weekend we ran out with the second youngest team for the round behind Brisvegas, while the WC ran out with the oldest. The previous week Freo was the third youngest side for the round, but the youngest winning side. So it can be a bit of a salve for jangling nerves after the keystone bungling in the forward line yesterday.
