Balic has shown in his short time in AFL ranks, on pure football capacity, he seemed a steal at pick 38. Sure there were some question marks, hence he slipped to pick 38.

Their record in player retention has been pretty exemplary over the past half decade or so, so you can't blame 'em for backing themselves in in that regard.

Anyways, as bad as it may feel from here he hasn't left yet and where's life there's hope.

If Balic wants to go back to victoria then thats fine, certainly worth at least a 2nd round pick. He was drafted with a known injury issue, which is why he slid from top 10 prospect to us at 38, so certainly was a draft steal. I don't think that freo would let him walk for nothing, they would try to get something for him.

If he wants to stay and can get over these issues, which I hope he does, I'm sure he will be a 200+ game player for Freo.
