Having read the posts I can't help but be impressed by Hypen's measured response and empathic attitude.

I was out of line.

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say I hope we get to see an Essendon Premiership with AFL legend James Hird presenting the coveted Norm Smith to Essendon great and all round top bloke Jobe Watson.

A more moving story of redemption and triumph over adversity would be difficult to imagine.

Exceedingly poor decision by AWFL in my opinion.
Hird still claims he did NOTHING wrong!
He should be banned from anything related to AFL footy until he at least acknowledges his involvement & publicly apologises to all the players for the doping scandal he was ultimately responsible for.

I'm all for supporting people with mental health issues. But Hird made himself ill.

He engineered and oversaw illegal activity, and dragged the whole club into it. He refused to admit he had done anything wrong.

Even as recent as Jan this year, he maintains what he did was 'legal, ethical and the logic and motivation was sound'. Also, he claims others were doing it too, so it's all right then?

Typical AFL hypocrisy. He's been sick so it's redemption time? That's a sick narrative.
