For the first time in a long time, I thought it looked like we had some degree of forward structure yesterday, especially in 3 out of the 4 quarters. 4 of our goals game from short kicks honoring strong leads into space, 4 goals were over the back from quick ball movement and transition, 4 from contested marks (I classified the one from Sonson in the first quarter loosely as a contested mark, but realistically he just read the ball better), and one from general play (Nyhuis' third in the last quarter, which was an absolute beauty). When we reverted back to our idiotic long-kick-and-hope-for-the-best in the third quarter, we played directly into North's hand and brings their tall defenders into play with intercept marking. The Slime tall plays in a manner not too dissimilar to North's, so I'm hoping that we have turned the corner and go forward from here with the forward play that was evident for most of yesterday...
