TOPIC: Brennan Cox

3 games in and I reckon he's got what it takes, he appears to learn from his mistakes and shows a lot of promise, he turns 19 next month already currently shown as 193cm tall
The other player I've only seen play once but I thought stood out is Ryan Nyhuis 188 cm and a pretty sharp runner ( played on Liam Ryan in the WAFL Grand Final).

I agree. He has impressed me with not only hi skills, but footy smarts. (Ignoring one obvious footy dumb.)

He can share quite a bit of the blame with Neale, who was running alongside calling for the cheap goal instead of going in and making Steele earn his tackle with a good old fashioned shepherd.

A cheap goal's a good goal RM.

Only when it's a goal, not when your teammate gets smashed and your team gets nothing, I blame Cox 10% and Neale 90%

His ability to read the ball in flight and stick a grab is something we haven't seen from a Freo draftee since Fyfe and probably Polak before that. He moves quite well too and seems to make very good decisions with the footy. I thought his goal kicking could use some work as he gets under it a bit but he should get plenty of opportunity to practice.

A great find for us.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

True Biz, but isn't it so Fremantle that we would play him as a backman for half a season at Peel before debuting him as a forward.

Although to be fair he was the AA CHB at U18 Champs. There was also an article that came from one of the SA rags during the championships where he talked about being much more comfortable down back after transitioning from the forwards.

So we didn't actually recruit any forwards in the draft really then. We thought Kersten(fringe player at Geelong), McCarthy(hadn't played for 12 months), Tabener(has never come on) and Apeness(always injured) would be enough this year.
No wonder we can't kick enough goals.

Yep he looks really good.
He will learn a lot from that run down going for goal.
Yes Neale probably could have come across for the shepard however Neale was in the clear and a handball over to him would likely resulted in a goal.
As it was Cox was in two minds and got caught napping.
The pace of the game caught him out, he will learn to move and make decisions faster you can bet.
The main thing is he seems to know where to position himself to get the ball in the first place and how to hang onto it.

He has looked slow at times however I havent been this excited about a new player since Fyfe, Walters and Neale...
Cant wait to see him develop!

Have we uncovered another PAV. U18 AA CHB that hails from Woodvale West Torrens(SA). At 193cm and 93kgs, surely is our answer in the fwd line. Pretty sure Pav played CHB in the U18s, when he got drafted. Huge, huge shoes to fill but it's a start.

I'm not sure there's any need to saddle him with the Pav comparison, but I do remember after he was drafted seeing his highlights and reading he was AA CHB and wondering how he slipped to us so far down. I figured there must be some issues that aren't apparent. His highlights, in particular, showed someone who went at it with ferocity, knew his way around a contest, made frequent good decisions and had a fair bit of athleticism. Seems that is bearing out in the early days at the top level too.

I think his beep test and vertical standing backflip were in the lower 50% of combine results, and there was a rumor going round that he secretly wanted to play for the socceroos.
