He's a heart and soul player and definitely needed by the team. His greatest fault at the moment is that he tries too hard. He's flying in the pack when he's maybe needed to stay down. He's taking more kicks than he normally does when he's definitely not a great kick. He's spending more time on the field than he used to. This is all because we have a lot of new ones in defense and from week to week it changes. As the likes of Ryan, Logue and Hughes start having more games we'll see Spurr going back to doing what he does best and that is shutting down the best small forward.
All three of the young ones had their best games on Sunday and seem to be developing fast. Spurr is definitely a leader and highly valued by the team. I hated seeing De Boer, Silvagni, Barlow go but I can see how the decisions were made. We now need a few of those type players to stay in the team.
