Well..i just thought Darcy was great. And, I'm sorry, there should be no negativity/sarcasm about what he did today. 2nd gamer, 19 yr old, relatively 'rushed in', one man down.....well ....how much more could one expect?? Thought 16 disposals 33 HO and 8 tackles is pretty good going. Then there was a couple of good marks....

We have the quality that you talk about DP. Like what was said today by Dermie I think, Walters knew how to kick the ball from long out 50m+ So that it was low and slid through the goals but last week Ballantyne a much older player (and one of my favourites) kicked a long ball to goal too high and it landed on its end and lost momentum and speed and did not result in a goal. Bring on the youth and encourage them.

An inlfux of kids isn't going to change things. They have to be coached well. Something Fremantle still sucks at, and will continue to while Lyon is doing it.

Meanwhile you can enjoy the mini bites of optimism that watching first year players go around will give you. If you're hanging the future on that, you're probably the kind of voter politicians love, because they can wheel out anything vaguely promising at election time and if sounds good, you'll buy it.

Its certainly easy to be downcast on the continual reluctance to change his game plan Drubbing, but maybe, just maybe, the 'method in his madness' is that the complete lack of foward line 'structure' / attacking gameplan, is "a means to an end."
Currently, we have got a a good dose of 18,19,20 & 21 yr olds in a team that is losing only by a few points. Pretty competitive losses I reckon.
We are now 14th, and able to slip back a bit further. Couple of high end draft picks are getting a bit closer.
Call it a rebuild. Call it tanking.
As long as we are getting kids into the team and we are putting up a fight, I dont think things are completely bad....

What I like about Darcy is that when he gets the ball and it's in traffic and under pressure he slams the ball on the foot and pumps it forward. Others could learn from him. Today was some of the dumbest footy I have ever seen. Always one handball in a chain too many, handballing to a bloke with someone right on him, kicks across field for no reason that would then reduce our options by pinning us near the boundary. It was never ending. Like they had all had midweek lobotomies. You watch games like that and almost hope you lose so you can get better draft picks. Thank God for Sonny Walters.
