What I read said that Connor went home early from Training as he felt sick. Then decided staying at his parents in Bunbury would fix him quicker - homemade chicken soup etc He stayed the night woke up feeling great and thought a quick surf would be just the thing before he headed back to the club - cant really see a lot wrong with that way of thinking - probably should have just told the club the good news about feeling better first I guess.

Probably should've dried his hair and left his wetsuit in Bunbury before going back to Freo. I knew that hair would get him in trouble one day.

I reckon every AFL coach would disagree with you shane, but to each his own.

Kick a footy around for a few months....I hardly think it's that easy. The trust level required to train and play as a cohesive group in a successful highly paid AFL team I think would be high, very high. That's partly why the basket cases end up on the bottom.....there isn't complete buy-in by everyone, which creates mistrust and dysfunction.

The Blakely thing will play out hopefully well for him and his team mates.

Oh well. On another note, I'm really glad I was wrong about the omissions and HODOR is playing, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he works with Sandi. And Brady Grey and Fyfe are back. Something to be excited about on a chilly day at Subi.

comparing war with playing sport is kind of silly.
Trenches. Give me a break.

It's an analogy rather than a comparison.

Has the leadership group failed Connor?
What example has been set by previous behaviour that would make him think the individual is more important than the team?
Does the sometime baffling team selections make " an individual " think that we do not operate as a meritocracy, "now I'm in the side I'm set?"
Blakely's debut was well over due and he was sent back to Peel and given a public clip with regards to his disposals.
There are bigger issues within the club at play in which we can only have limited knowledge.
Polly is my favourite poster, the fact that the current stance is so out of step with the usual understanding and good humour displayed does concern me that there is a more serious issue than nicking off for a surf, I hope Polly had just received an email from Cricket Australia and scratched his Ute in the car park at Claremont.

Ask the victims of war and their families what they think about your analogy.

It's actually a euphemism and everyone needs to chill a bit on the taking offence to the reference to 'in the trenches'.

Successful organisations and teams function around some agreed rules or principles, trust and honesty. Connor fell short of what was required and got, deservedly, called out on it.

Is it career threatening or something from which he can't come back? Of course not. I expect he'll regain the trust of his teammates in time - and will have learnt a fair bit about himself along the way.

I thought a euphemism was like 'massaging the old tortoise'..?
