Right now, I'd be more concerned about the massive plunge on St Kilda.
It's not the first time SK has been backed in heavily against Freo and bolted in.

Hey Noddy.... (Im trying to deflect attention from the CB thing...), your "cricket is a game that does not rely on team cohesion" statement I have serious problems with!!
I can tell you every failure my cricket team ever had was as a result of lack of team cohesion, and every success was the result of team cohesion!!
Cricket is a game of partnerships - bowler + bowler vs a batsman , batsman + batsman vs a bowler...not to mention the most important people on the field...the 10 fielders. Be in no doubt of that!
You are only as good as "the bloke at the other end. Another way of thinking about it, is that you are only as good as the bloke in control of the ball, at whatever point in the game that it is whether that be batsman, bowler or fielder. Much the same in footy in that regard.
And, ....well....there's not a team sport that doesnt rely on team cohesion ...."only as strong as you weakest link " sort of stuff.
And, ...well....thats what this week at Freo is about. Getting our values sorted out, getting our players "minds on the job", getting everyone pulling in the same direction....and THATS what we should all applaud.
Well done Freo heirachy for taking action, "nipping something in the bud!". A bouquet to you all for once!
Now lets go onwards and upwards, and I am absolutely positive C. Blakely will be a BIG part of that.....

The deal was sealed for me when I heard he skipped out of a the final strategy meeting for the game this weekend. Not the last 2k of a training session or a nutrition lecture - the final team game day strategy meeting. This is the game his teammates are going to front up for - this is the game we're fronting up for this afternoon. There will be another game after that. I've often wondered why Fremantle can't gel as a team during matches - if match day strategy meetings are considered pointless by the players, it kind of answers that for me.

It could very well be that game day strategy meetings with RoLy are pointless, or that someone filled Blakely in on the details before he nicked off. On the balance of probabilities, probably not. It could be that Blakely is one of those rare talents that doesn't need to know what the team are planning to do, or that his Mum has some magical chicken-noodle soup cure for his illness. I doubt it. He weaselled out of something important for something he figured was more important.

Honestly, I wish I didn't know the difference between thoughtless stupidity and wilful deception. But I do - and not because my dog might have given me rabies this week (and I turned into Donald Trump or Joseph Stalin). Being young, big-headed and stupid is totally understandable (and almost always excusable). But thinking it's ok to knowingly deceive isn't, there's a big difference between conceit and deceit.

Call it an analogy, a simile, a metaphor or (correctly) a euphemism - but Blakely is a weasel. If you want your chickens to produce eggs you get rid of the weasel bunkered down in the chicken coop. There's nothing abstract about it, a weasel is a weasel. That's not harsh at all, it's just recognising a weasel for what he is.

My opinion hasn't changed and I apologise to everyone for outlining it in an earlier post - I won't add to it.

Well....I just want to say,... Polly, you are by far and away my favourite "poster", I respect your opinion and you are more than entitled to it. I am sure many Dockerlanders feel the same way..
We would rue the day that you felt you were not able to state what you believe.
Everyone will have a view on the "CB thingo", and you have stated yours as eloquently as always.
For what it is worth, I agree with it. !

He didn't get caught drunk driving on the way down there or the way back, never got picked up in a checkpoint with a pocketful of ice, and as far as we know wasn't riding with the presidents of the rebels, coffin cheaters or kizon's crew, so I don't think any more than a week off is warranted.

Knowing how teammates view their mates who do this sort of thing, his real punishment won't be what Freo have thrown to the media, it will be what his teammates put him through for the next month, or until another Freo player does something dumb (which we probably will never get to hear about because no-one leaked it to the ferals.

FWIW I took a 'mental health' day off work on Monday (Sunday's game in Geelong didn't help my state of mind). I sometimes wonder if the grind is too much for some footballers too.

I still miss Barlow.

Cletus, I've played cricket and football. Both have team cohesion aspects but to compare them is difficult to follow.

I'm with Polly, if there was deceit involved that's hard to recover from.

Sheesh 20 year old getting ahead of himself draw and quarter him I say. One incident does not make him a deceitful little bastard. In a normal workplace would you dock his pay? he just has to earn back some trust.

Well.....I've played both as well...all I'm saying is that in either sport -and for all team sports - if your team-mate doesnt 'buy in" , then as a team, you are going nowhere.
I would argue that concept is even more prevalent in cricket, than it is in football. Maybe at amateur levels, you can get away with reliance upon consistent, outstanding individual performances from 'superstars', but not at the higher levels. Don't think the superstar's at higher levels achieve anything without the partnerships formed with their team mates.
And, well ...we both agree...the CB thingo is all about 'buy in'.

Docked is spot on. CB will be judged by his peers in the context of his overall relationship with them. Intentional deceit or not, the players will know if this is a one off or part of a pattern, and they will determine the extent of punishment and what is needed to regain their trust.
