Walters was lucky to get away with a fine.

Disgraceful report. The bloke staged for a free kick a long time after impact from what was clearly a small bump of insufficient force. Ballas should, however, just avoid this especially when we are making a play on goal. Media attention should be on the Cat for what was clearly staging for a free, which he got.

Morgan, I still say that the AwFL is more interested in easy money than cleaning up the game. Walters should have got a week or 2, but based on the way the MRP has treated these incidents, I would be furious if he did , considering that Selwood, Mitchell and co keep getting off with fines. Ballas has been stitched up again, but no-one is taking the stance that the Touhy dive cost Freo the game. It was not the only incident that saw Freo miss out on a goal, sure, but if you take it in isolation, it was the difference between a 4 point win and a 2 point loss.

Only saw the incident once on the day, seemed to be insignificant contact to the body, Dangerfield seemed to recover very quickly once he realised he was unsuccessful in getting a free kick. Fine would appear to be appropriate and a free kick on the day.

The Balla's Touhy incident was & 7:10 min's left on clock to 1/2 time.
Ballas throws back a soft elbow to Touhy's midriff and when Touhy see's Brad Hill about to take a shot Touhy goes down like he was shot. Brad Hill's shot missed to the left as indicated by goal ump tapping his chest. Ump #2 paid the free and interestingly was also heavily involved in the paying of 50/50 frees to Geebung and conversely not to us in the 50/50's.

About 3 mins after Son Son gave Dangerfield a free thigh to lower back massage he came back on the field from the interchange and laid a beautiful hip & shoulder, gathers the spilled ball, dishes out a handball, ball goes fwd our way but ends up out of bounds. The other Selwood decides to play judge and jury by thinking hello here's an opportunity to square up with the little bastard so makes a bee line at him & swings his L elbow at Walters. Son Son goes to ground (ump comes in with a nothin to see here kind of attitude) quickly gets up, jogs off rubbing his jaw. On the replay Brad Johnson has a good old giggle.

Not assessed by MRP.? I mean either Selwood has transgressed or Son Son has staged. (I say the 1st)

So the outcome is basically the MRP gives Selwood a free pass coz let's face it in Selwoods & the MRP's eyes Walters is a little purple bastard who deserved it.

It's a mistake, I think, to believe that Freo players are left unprotected by umpires or that the MRP routinely singles out certain Dockers players on-field behaviour for forensic investigation.
I think it's so much more to do with certain 'star' players from a small number of highly favoured Melbourne-based clubs who are over-protected and, as a consequence, feel that they can do whatever they like.

Exactly my point Stoney, we saw Fyfe suspended a couple of times for taking the law into his own hands after umpires and MRP ignored the transgressions against him, and now Mikey is in the gun, coincidence that he is fast becoming our most influential player?

Darcy dominating Stanley, so Stanley decides to play the man instead of the ball at a ruck contest and almost dislocates Darcy's shoulder, play on. Yet when Sandi does anything like this he is immediately penalised. Repeatedly.

RM I think you make a fair point regarding Sandilands being penalised in the ruck contest. Regularly gets called for blocking, I watched Darcy in the weekend being held repeatedly for no free. There was one on the last qtr just outside our attacking fifty, Stanley effectively held both arms of Darcy taking away any opportunity for him to compete, no free called.

so now we have a week where Ballas gets a fine for doing nothing, but Schofield gets off free for elbowing a bloke in the face. Negligent impact based on played out game with no consequence, and delayed reaction to the impact... sound familiar?
