We are the dumbest football team in the comp.
Why, if the other team has 3 fewer players in the last qtr and are obviously out on their feet, would you mess around with short kicks into the back pocket? Why wouldn't you play on at every opportunity? Why wouldn't you run them off their feet? And why wouldn't the coach send a runner out to tell them what they were doing wrong?

Not much luck in the last quarter. Ballas kick that 9 times out of 10 would've bounced through and instead sat on its end.
Walter's would normally kick those through in his sleep but shanked it.
Considering I was going to be happy with a competitive effort and a 5-6 goal loss - this was a much better result. Darcy & Deluca showed a bit for first gamers and some of the other young blokes took another step forward.

Very excited about the effort today - Freo were great considering.
Now they sit on a bus for at least an hour or so....wait at the airport for a 3 & 1/2 hour flight home. Rest up boys!

The cats played well in the second half especially the last quarter but what went wrong for us was we starting defending a lead rather than playing like we did in the first half.

Trying to defend a lead is more an exhausting than taking the game on. Why weren't we playing like we did in the last minute when forced to try and score?

There's only one winner every season. The team that holds up the cup in September. To get there takes a mountain of work. First you qualify for finals and then it's on. Roly's first season in 2012, we were 6-8 after round 14 and played finals with a very experienced and old list. Everyone knows what's happened since then. Today's game showcased what we've got in the cupboard. Keep playing the kids because it's the only way we'll reach that mountain again and loft that cup.

I'm with the King here...

why shut down? The first half of that last q you could see the Cats getting on top. Prior to that Freo had their measure, comfortably. All they had to do was keep doing their thing and run the Cats off their legs.

That was a wasted opportunity. Someone needs to get up in the coaches box and fight RoLy away from the tv.

If we'd won it would be due to the exuberance of youth and the selectors finally doing the obvious and picking Darcy and Deluca. It would have been nothing to do with the coach.

Lose by 3 points and it's the coach's fault???

Have a look at Johnno's kicking out of the back 50, Kersten in the third quarter out of the back 50 and our players going across goal early in the last which cost two goals.

I didnt get to see the game. But we travelled to Geelong without our best two players and got within a kick.

You got to be happy right now. My only knock on Lyon is that every time he plays the kids he gets rewarded and every time he goes back to same old he gets caned.

I dont want to see Sutcliffe, Spurr, Griffo or Dawson in the team anymore and I dont care how many kids we carry into the game.Its the only way. Sounds like the forwards were garbage. Stick at it, its the hardest part to get right.
