Jezza...the 2 KPP and the crumbers are there when the ball is bounced - there's no denying that.
The problem is, that they are not there, nor anywhere near there, when the game is is play...or more specifically when the ball is making its way forward from our backline.
Generally, the ball has to be switched or fiddled around with somewhere between wing and the half forward line, while we await for numbers to run forward and present an option. God knows how many times the ball was bombed in - or fiddled around with whilst we waited - last week, with no-one being there, ... and the week before, and, ...the week before that. In fact we've been doing this nonsense for a good number of years - even as far back as 2013 - where things actually work half well. ie create a fustercluck in the backline somewhere through immense pressure, create the turnover, get the ball, then all run forward and hopefully find someone down there who has run back faster or wider than the ball carrier. !
How many times have you been at the game or seen it on TV, when we've got possession, and there's absolutely no-one down there to kick it too?? Even Gerard Healy alerts me to that fact at least 11 or 12 times every second match...
What we need is a bloke ie Darcy or Sandy superglued to the goalsquare, so at least there's an option there when we've got it. And if a crumber can be stationed there at all times as well - well..., we'd be onto something. And, that's probably got to mean that RoLy has to come up with a different idea than have 18 blokes around the ball at all times, no matter where it is....because...well...his 'you beaut' Sydney Swans circa 2003-2006 concept is getting a bit old. !!
