Morgan, the fines are not a deterrent. Everyone agrees these things are a blight on the game. Instead of punishing all players, clubs and the paying public, by changing laws of the game willy nilly, in a knee jerk response, punish the transgressors with suspensions. Like using free kicks instead of ball ups to punish more minor transgressions , it will force the coaches and clubs to make sure their players follow the rules, not encourage them to break them like they do now.

I'm with you, redned. The fact that the offender ran past the ball and engaged in what appeared to be intentional forceful contact to the ( supposedly sacrosanct ) head area thus in violation of MRP recommendations and didn't get suspended beggars belief. One imagines what the result would be if the perpetrators had been our example escapecoats in Ballas or God forbid, Our Jeffery.
