Just putting this out there, so some of our better judges can explain the consistency of interpretation at the MRP.

Its linked to consequence not action. And it seems to help if you're a West Coast squib.

I didn't think he did anything wrong.

What astounded me was that Selwood was not given 3 weeks. He punched Mitchell in the spine. You'd struggle to find a filthier act in the past decade*

* Not including stuff Mitchell has done to people.

It is ludicrous to base the penalty on actual rather than potential damage. Mind you, I guess it mirrors real life. If you run a red light and are lucky enough not to have a crash, your penalty will be considerably less than someone who runs a red light and hits another car.

The video footage to support Shuey hitting a bloke unawares square in the face was supported by three other incidents of blokes being hit unawares square in the face.
I'm sorry to say it, but if my kids ever express an interest in playing this game they answer is 'no'.

The MRP has been entirely consistent this year: you'll get off so long as you're not a repeat offender and you don't cause an injury.

The only time they've been inconsistent is when everyone made a big deal about jumper punches. Then they had to ping at least one bloke.

I reckon the grainy footage and Selwood's status probably saved him. I reckon being clocked in the back of the head probably saved Mitchell.

I accept that the MRP are inconsistent. What I get really grated over is the flood of opinion directing commentary that Nissy and his mob use every, single, time an EGirl gets reported in a game. 'Oh, I think midfielders should be hard at the ball...', 'no, we can't take a player going hard at the ball out of our game..' BLAH BLAH BLAH. That really grates my cheddar.

If I was on the MRP I would just be honest and straightforward about things:

a) $10,00 to get a player off - across the board (stuff cutting the umpies in); and with the caveat that:
b) any incident reported with an EGirl player involved gets them 3 weeks automatic, no appeal. Nissy wants them to play the next week, he pays me $500k and sends me their testicles following a mandatory castration.

That would be straightforward and consistent.

TGTI, the first replay showed the Pies player doing exactly the same as the others and getting a week. Why don't they all get a week? All this stuff about prior good record is crap. We have seen some of the known dirtiest players in the game get off because they have "no prior record". Shuey hit the player high. The head is sacrosanct. Suspend him. Ch eagle even cut the replay off before the commentators could change their opinion after seeing the hit get Dangerfield high.

I don't think your response is extreme enough, Polly. That is two Toilet players not suspended for deliberately taking players high off the ball. Logic says to the players: we can get away with this. It isn't going to end prettily; someone will inevitably get seriously hurt bent over the ball, and questions will be asked why players were allowed away repeatedly and often with head high contact during season 2017. It's garbage.

No prior record as mitigation is a puzzle to me too - I mean, how are supposed to get one if they let you off for every cheap shot?

Polly I see the cunning in your plan, pure genius.

The hours wasted looking for the testicles - pure genius

London to a brick on, that Mikey Walters gets 2 weeks next Monday. Morgan, do you still think the MRP is getting it right?

The AFL can't afford to get serious on staging.

Imagine them having to suspend Selwood, Darling, Thomas, Stevie J, Shuey etc all on the one weekend. Jeepers, the slime and geebung would have trouble getting a side together for the week after.

We need a bear.

What about a few more ridiculous deliberate rulings. That will take the heat off....
