I'm not sure why this is even an issue. I grew up supporting East Fremantle in a school where everyone else supported South Fremantle and it had absolutely no effect on me.

Well, not after I put a shiv through that first kid who have me grief.

Here's a tip. Schools are pretty relaxed when it comes to the blades on pencil sharpeners.

My son went through the same thing about 10 years ago. Going to Aranmore Primary and playing for the MH Cardinals he was one of the few Dockers in a sea of slime. One night the Cardinals had Adam Selwood come to address the players at training. My boy did not want to go. I told him he had to. He said he would "but I won't listen to him." My heart swelled with pride. Anyway he has grown into an easy-going and well-adjusted teenager with a visceral hatred of the Eagles.
I suggest your boy gets the number 7 on his guernsey - they can't argue with a Brownlow medallist who plays out a game with a broken leg. Take him to all the Dockers family days - great for maintaining the faith.
PS agree with one of the other posts about Rhai-arn Cox - a very skillful player with a ton of guts. Saw both of them in juniors and I think the he is a little ahead of Sam.

I've never thought a 15 yr old hood with a blade against a kindy kid, even if he was a bit mouthy was a fair fight Shane.

Although the behaviour of the teachers/principal is less than ideal, bringing it up with any of them won't do much to help your boy in the long run.

Lead by example. Don the purple tomorrow for school drop off and waltz in there with your head held high. Brush off any banter with a smile and a lighthearted quip of your own. You might even get the odd 'nice shirt' type comment, showing your kid that he's not alone afterall.

I was in the same position as your son back in the day. There were even fewer Freo fans and the scorelines were far worse back then. Nevertheless I always liked the underdog and was always questioning of those in the majority so Freo was a pretty good fit.

That didn't make it any easier to deal with everyone else supporting the OOFTIT's and rubbishing me and my team as a result. What it did do was make me work harder on the field to show them up and come up with wittier comebacks to fend back their childish insults. I believe it helped develop a thicker skin and make me a better and more appreciative person but those in the DuFFLe will probably have a differing opinion!

My one regret is missing our first Derby win and not being able to capitalise on emulating their smug insults to really rub them the wrong way (as I would in the future). I was about 10 at the time and found myself in a losing battle with a rottweiler that had me stuck in hospital for a couple of days which meant I missed the footy rundown normally enjoyed on a Monday back at school.

Being a Freo supporter in an OOFTIT school is tough but he'll get used to it and the insults will be a breeze to deal with knowing how sheep like and fickle they are. The OOFTIT fans have many cracks in the armor, when we get one up on them they're always far more hurt. A simple smile is enough to set them off and trigger the pain and sadness behind their eyes.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Look on the Bright side Demo1, you aren't going to have to worry about random drug testing issues later on as he grows up.

My son was eight back in 2001 when we won two games that year.
We were standing at the lights at Railway Pde with other Freo supporters waiting on the police to stop the traffic and
my son looked up to me and said " Dad why can't we be like normal people and go for West Coast?" which got a few chuckles from a few of the crowd. Which I replied " For that comment your coming to the next game".
